Overview

Brex is an intelligent finance platform that enables companies to manage spending efficiently. The Counsel, Employment role involves providing legal support related to employment matters within a dynamic, high-growth fintech company.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance to Brex’s People team on employment issues, including performance management, terminations, recruiting, and compensation.
• Support the development and implementation of policies governing Brex employees and contingent workers.
• Manage employment-related disputes, complaints, and regulatory inquiries.
• Assist outside legal counsel on employment matters and ensure efficiency.
• Identify employment-related risks and recommend solutions.
• Research employment laws applicable in various locations and monitor developments.
• Deliver employment-related training to managers and employees.
• Assist with subpoenas and information requests related to employees or contingent workers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in employment law at a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Experience working directly with People / HR functions as a legal advisor.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Problem-solving mindset and ability to navigate a fast-paced environment.
• Team player with effective collaboration skills.
• Exceptional communication skills for translating legal complexity.
• Juris Doctor (JD) and active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state.

Benefits

The expected salary range for this role is $220,000 - $270,000 USD, dependent on various factors. Equity and other compensation may also be available.

Location

This role is hybrid with a requirement of three coordinated days in the office per week in New York City. There is an option for up to four weeks of fully remote work per year.
