Senior Software Engineer - Database Connectors @Fivetran

Overview

Fivetran is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their PostgreSQL database connector team, focusing on developing enterprise-grade software for their sophisticated customers. This role is essential to the growth and success of the company as they build data pipelines to power the modern data stack.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support best-in-class enterprise capabilities for Fivetran’s largest customers.
• Manage and lead projects, ensuring timely and quality delivery in an iterative development environment.
• Maintain and improve existing enterprise features and Fivetran's codebase and infrastructure.
• Conduct thorough testing and reviews to maintain high standards for code quality, performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with peers, product managers, and customer support to deliver high-quality products.
• Make Fivetran a reliable and secure component of customers’ data infrastructure.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends.
• Participate in design and code reviews and on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in the software industry with strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong knowledge of OOP, preferably in Java, and experience in database and query performance tuning.
• Ability to write well-structured and performant code.
• Experience defining project requirements and designing corresponding software and infrastructure.
• Capability to break down customer requirements into engineering tasks.
• Experience with continuous integration tools like Buildkite/Circle CI.
• Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, Docker.
• Strong communication skills in English.

Bonus Skills

• Experience in data processing (ETL, ELT) and/or cloud-based platforms.
• Hands-on experience with cloud technologies and containerization methodologies.
• Expertise in Postgres database internals.
