Senior Software Engineer I — Agentic Analytics @Instacart

Overview

Instacart is transforming the grocery industry by providing essential services and flexible earning opportunities to customers and Personal Shoppers. The company is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Agentic Analytics Platform team, which is responsible for the AI-for-Data charter inside Instacart's Data Infrastructure org.

Key Responsibilities

• Build LLM-powered systems end-to-end, including retrieval over internal metadata and code, agentic workflows, and product surfaces for internal users.
• Contribute to shaping the roadmap and drive new initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with engineers and other teams to create reliable production-grade systems.
• Foster a strong engineering culture focused on applied AI principles.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership.
• Strong backend engineering skills in Python, with experience building production services.
• Hands-on experience with applied LLM systems and a background in production environments.
• Working knowledge of technologies such as Python, Airflow, Snowflake, dbt.
• Strong knowledge of SQL.
• 5+ years of relevant working experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with retrieval systems and building developer/internal tools.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.

Benefits

Instacart offers highly market-competitive compensation and benefits. The base pay range for this role is $168,000 — $177,500 CAD, along with eligibility for equity grants.

Location

This role is remote but only available to candidates in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.
