Senior Software Engineer -Observability, Managed Inputs @Elastic

Overview

The role is for a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Observability within the Managed Inputs team at Elastic. The team builds high-performing backend ingestion pipelines for collecting telemetry from diverse environments, processing and storing this information to improve user experiences in Kibana.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, deploy, and maintain scalable features in Managed Inputs (mOTLP endpoints) and Managed Integrations.
• Lead projects and features from concept to delivery.
• Provide engineering-level support for escalated customer cases.
• Mentor peers through code reviews to ensure code quality and best practices.
• Monitor system stability by building SLIs and SLOs.
• Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture.
• Participate in on-call rotation for services owned by the team.

Requirements

• Intermediate to Expert Go skills with analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting abilities.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and Kafka.
• Intermediate experience with Observability, including tracing, metrics, logs, and profiling.
• Strong understanding of microservice architecture and distributed systems.
• Positive attitude and commitment to self-learning.
• Ability to work autonomously in a distributed team and collaborate effectively.
• Experience or interest in OpenTelemetry.
• Proven ability to leverage AI-assisted development tools for feature development and optimization.
