    Overview

    The role of Senior Software Engineer in Observability involves building high-performing backend ingestion pipelines within the Managed Inputs team at Elastic. The company is known for enabling organizations to leverage their data for improved search and observability experiences.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design, implement, deploy, and maintain high-performing, scalable features for Managed Inputs and Managed Integrations across cloud providers.
    • Take ownership of projects and features, leading them from concept to delivery.
    • Provide engineering-level support for escalated customer cases on a rotation basis.
    • Mentor peers through code reviews, ensuring code quality and promoting best practices.
    • Monitor alerts, build SLIs and SLOs, and ensure system stability.
    • Cultivate a positive and collaborative team culture across timezones.
    • Be on call for services owned, currently on a rotation of 12h/day/week every 8-10 weeks.

    Requirements

    • Intermediate to expert skills in Go with strong analytical and debugging skills.
    • Experience with Kubernetes, IaC (Terraform), and Kafka.
    • Intermediate experience with Observability (tracing, metrics, logs, profiling).
    • Strong understanding of microservice architecture and distributed systems.
    • Ability to conduct root cause analysis and investigate system issues.
    • Experience with or interest in OpenTelemetry.
    • Demonstrated experience in using AI-assisted development tools.
    • Ability to work independently in a globally distributed team.
