Key Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives within Elasticsearch to enhance the search engine offering, ensuring speed and relevance.
• Build new search features and fix bugs while improving code clarity.
• Work on vector search capabilities with a team of experienced engineers.
• Drive improvements in Elasticsearch search relevance.
• Collaborate with community members on issues and pull requests.
• Write idiomatic modern Java — Elasticsearch is 99.8% Java.

Requirements

• Professional experience with search or vector databases and relevant algorithms.
• Solid skills in core Java and understanding of data structures and concurrency constructs.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage projects from design to completion.
• Experience with collaborative development and asynchronous communication.
• Proficiency in various data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
• Track record of utilizing AI for development, debugging, and code optimization.
• Capability to transition between projects and teams seamlessly.
