Overview

The role is for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch - Storage Engine team within Elastic, the Search AI Company. This fully remote team develops core storage and query technologies for observability workloads.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural evolution of core storage engine components and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Drive and build industry-leading observability solutions through cross-organizational initiatives.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed team focusing on Elasticsearch's logs and metrics capabilities.
• Introduce best practices for clean coding standards and operational improvements.
• Serve as a subject matter expert across key areas of Elasticsearch and mentor other engineers.
• Triage, resolve, and review issues and pull requests in collaboration with domain experts.
• Write idiomatic modern Java code.

Requirements

• Ability to collaborate across functions and teams, transitioning smoothly between projects.
• Proven track record using AI to accelerate development and optimize code.
• Experience with indexing, storing, and querying time-series or logs data.
• Proficiency with data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
• Strong core Java skills with understanding of concurrency primitives.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, working professionally in a distributed team.
