Overview

The role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing Elasticsearch's core storage and query engine as part of the Storage Engine team, which develops core storage and query technologies for observability workloads.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural evolution of core storage engine components, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
• Drive initiatives to build industry-leading observability solutions.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed team on logs and metrics capabilities for Elasticsearch.
• Introduce best practices for clean coding standards and system improvements.
• Act as a subject matter expert, providing mentorship and technical guidance.
• Review and resolve issues within the community, collaborating with domain experts as needed.
• Write idiomatic modern Java.

Requirements

• Proven ability to collaborate across functions and teams.
• Experience with AI to enhance development and optimize code.
• Implemented efficient techniques for indexing, storing, and querying time-series or logs data.
• Experience with data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Prometheus.
• Strong core Java skills and understanding of concurrency primitives.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
