Overview

The role involves joining the Elasticsearch - Storage Engine team as a Senior Software Engineer. This fully remote and globally distributed team develops core storage and query technologies for observability workloads.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural evolution of core storage engine components, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
• Lead initiatives to develop industry-leading observability solutions.
• Collaborate with a distributed team on logs and metrics capabilities in Elasticsearch.
• Drive system improvements by implementing best practices for coding standards.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor within the engineering organization.
• Collaborate on issue triage, resolution, and review, working with domain experts.
• Write idiomatic modern Java code.

Requirements

• Ability to collaborate across teams and adapt to different priorities.
• Experience using AI to enhance development and debug complex systems.
• Experience with data storage technologies (Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Prometheus).
• Strong Java skills and knowledge of concurrency and data structures.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a distributed environment.
