Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch - Search Relevance team. This role focuses on delivering a robust search experience and contributing to the technical direction and vision of search capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives within Elasticsearch to produce an industry-leading search engine.
• Build new search features and fix bugs, while simplifying code.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed team focused on vector search capabilities.
• Enhance Elasticsearch search relevance based on insights and instincts.
• Engage with community members on issues and pull requests.
• Write idiomatic modern Java.

Requirements

• Implemented techniques in vector similarity on large search platforms or academic research in vector similarity.
• Professional experience with search or vector databases, utilizing algorithms like HNSW or IVF.
• Strong skills in core Java and familiarity with data structures and concurrency.
• Ability to guide projects from inception to completion independently.
• Capable of collaborative development experience, particularly remote collaboration.
• Experience with multiple data storage technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
• Proven track record of using AI for development acceleration and code optimization.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and transition between projects smoothly.
