Key Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives within Elasticsearch to produce industry-leading search engine offerings, ensuring speed and relevance.
• Contribute to Elasticsearch by building new search features and resolving bugs.
• Work collaboratively with a globally distributed team on vector search capabilities.
• Serve as an expert on Elasticsearch search relevance, identifying improvements in this area.
• Engage with community members globally on issues and pull requests.
• Write idiomatic modern Java, as Elasticsearch is primarily Java-based.

Requirements

• Experience implementing techniques in vector similarity on search platforms.
• Professional experience with search or vector databases, utilizing relevant algorithms.
• Strong core Java skills and understanding of data structures and concurrency constructs.
• Ability to autonomously manage projects from design to implementation.
• Experience in collaborative development, especially in asynchronous environments.
• Familiarity with data storage technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
• Proven track record of leveraging AI for development and debugging processes.
• Capability to collaborate across functions and adapt to varying business priorities.
