Overview
The role of Software Engineer II - Platform Infrastructure at Elastic involves contributing to the Elastic Cloud Platform, which powers the company’s products in the cloud. This fully remote position allows engineers to collaborate daily using GitHub, Slack, and Zoom.
Key Responsibilities
- Build features and components for production services.
- Take ownership of well-scoped pieces of larger projects, from requirements through production.
- Propose technical solutions and bring them through to working code.
- Pair with senior engineers on complex problems.
- Participate in code reviews and design discussions.
- Help operate the services owned and take part in the on-call rotation.
- Investigate incidents and improve runbooks.
- Automate repetitive tasks through code.
- Communicate status and blockers efficiently.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience writing services in Go or proficiency in another systems language with a willingness to learn Go.
- Understanding of Kubernetes fundamentals.
- Familiarity with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Curiosity about distributed systems and service communication.
- Ability to work through ambiguity with support from experienced engineers.
- Collaborative approach and clear communication skills in a remote setting.
- Commitment to the quality of work, including testing and observability.
