Overview
The role of Software Engineer II - Platform Infrastructure (Orchestration) at Elastic involves building and operating the Elastic Cloud Platform's services, enabling other engineers to develop and deploy software efficiently in a distributed environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build features and components for production services.
- Take ownership of well-scoped pieces of larger projects, from requirements through production.
- Propose technical solutions and develop working code.
- Collaborate with senior engineers on complex problems and engage in code reviews.
- Help operate the services owned by the team and participate in the on-call rotation.
- Automate repetitive tasks through coding.
- Maintain clear communication regarding status and blockers.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience writing services in Go, or proficiency in another systems language with a willingness to learn Go.
- Understanding of Kubernetes fundamentals (Pods, Deployments, Services, Operators).
- Familiarity with a major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Curiosity about distributed systems' communication.
- Comfort with ambiguity and support from experienced engineers.
- A collaborative approach and effective communication skills in a distributed environment.
- Attention to the quality of work delivered, including testing and observability.
