Overview
The role of Enterprise Solutions Architect at ClickHouse involves owning the technical side of the sales cycle for enterprise accounts, engaging with various stakeholders, and designing solutions that meet their technical needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the technical evaluation for enterprise accounts from discovery through POC or competitive bake-off, architecture sign-off, security review, and first production workload.
- Engage with stakeholders including data platform engineers, architects, SRE, and executives to design solutions that meet their requirements.
- Design for production scale, including sizing, sharding strategies, ingestion topology, and cost modeling.
- Win competitive displacements using customer-specific benchmarks.
- Own the migration plan, ensuring customers can visualize the path to production.
- Clear the security and procurement path regarding compliance and deployment requirements.
- Collaborate with Enterprise AEs to progress and close opportunities, aligning technical wins with commercial success.
- Advocate for customer needs internally with Product and Engineering.
- Contribute materials that support scaling successful practices.
Requirements
- Deep technical foundation in data infrastructure from roles such as data engineer, platform engineer, software engineer, DBA, or solutions architect.
- Production experience with analytical databases including ClickHouse, Snowflake, and others.
- Judgment in distributed systems regarding partitioning, replication, and consistency trade-offs.
- Fluency in modern data stack technologies including Kafka and cloud platforms at an architecture level.
- Experience winning technical evaluations against competitors.
- Customer-facing experience in pre-sales, consulting, or technical account management roles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage longer evaluation cycles with multiple stakeholders.
- Willingness to recommend alternatives when ClickHouse is not the right fit for a workload.
