Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) - Public Sector @Databricks

Overview

The Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) role at Databricks involves working with federal government customers to build and implement solutions to their data and AI challenges using the Databricks platform. This position requires strong technical skills and customer interaction to ensure impactful delivery of solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead customer technical projects by delivering production-grade systems and designing reference architectures.
• Guide customers through transformational big data projects, including end-to-end design and deployment.
• Provide architecture and design guidance to customers and implement projects for successful adoption of Databricks.
• Lead architecture and design decisions ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical components are delivered to meet customer needs.
• Engage deeply with customer teams to understand challenges and deliver impactful solutions.
• Contribute to reusable assets and best practices that scale impact across accounts.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Fluency in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks.
• Experience with two or more cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP), with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark®.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments and knowledge of MLOps.
• Experience in delivering technical projects and managing conflicts across stakeholders.

Location

This is a hybrid role with requirements to travel to customer locations 20-25% of the time. U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a U.S. government secret clearance are required.
