Principal Software Engineer (Application Networking) - Platform Infrastructure @Elastic

Overview

The Principal Software Engineer will join the Platform Infrastructure team focusing on application networking, driving the architecture and design for systems related to Ingress, security controls, private connectivity, and DNS management.

Key Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for application networking initiatives, overseeing designs from proposal to availability.
• Lead the development of Ingress, private connectivity, DNS, and security controls for Elastic Cloud, addressing issues of performance and reliability.
• Manage multi-quarter, cross-organizational projects, ensuring delivery and guiding other engineering teams.
• Enhance operational quality and lead incident investigations.
• Mentor engineers and serve as a technical advisor across the organization.
• Collaborate with product management and stakeholders on technical decisions and roadmap direction.
• Identify improvements for security, stability, and cost efficiency in architecture.

Requirements

• Experience in building software and setting technical direction for complex distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in application networking and cloud-native architecture.
• Experience in building large-scale distributed systems.
• Ability to manage projects and guide engineering teams through development.
• Experience with high-availability SaaS platforms and incident response.
• Proven track record of using AI to enhance development and optimize systems.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and manage varying projects effectively.
• Strong communication skills for influencing across teams without formal authority.
