Staff Software Engineer @Twilio

Overview

Twilio is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join its Compliance Experiences team, which plays a critical role in managing Phone Numbers and Compliance (KYC) on a global scale. The role focuses on building solutions that facilitate regulatory compliance and enhance customer communication services.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and technical roadmap for modernizing and transitioning legacy systems into a distributed microservices architecture.
• Utilize AI coding assistants to automate processes and improve team output.
• Drive technical excellence, making architectural decisions that balance innovation with reliability and security.
• Work with Product Managers to develop APIs and application workflows based on telecommunications regulations and customer needs.
• Mentor senior engineers and encourage a culture of technical curiosity and continuous learning.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks, leading the team through production incidents with a focus on remediation.
• Communicate technical strategies through design documents and presentations.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in designing and developing cloud-native enterprise distributed systems.
• Expert proficiency in Java or Go, with knowledge of AWS ecosystems.
• Deep experience with cloud-native infrastructure and resilient systems.
• Experience using AI tools to accelerate software delivery.
• Strong track record of building high-volume public-facing APIs.
• Familiarity with data processing solutions and infrastructure as code tools.
• Strong leadership and influence across teams.
• Experience in telecom domain and building internal platforms is desirable.
