Staff Software Engineer, Backend @Fivetran

Overview

Fivetran is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Backend to join their Reverse ETL product engineering team. This role involves integrating data activation capabilities into the Fivetran product.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to all parts of the tech stack, which includes Ruby on Rails, Typescript, Vue, and AWS.
• Prototype ideas to test before committing to building.
• Collaborate with the product team and customers on feature design and development.
• Mentor early-career engineers, conduct code reviews, and provide project-level leadership.
• Lead major projects from research to implementation and rollout.

Requirements

• Expertise in at least one interpreted language (e.g., Python, Ruby on Rails).
• Hands-on experience with at least one compiled language (e.g., C++, Kotlin, Java).
• Solid understanding of relational databases; experience with data warehousing solutions like Snowflake is a bonus.
• Proven experience in system integration, including API consumption and development.
• Familiarity with leading cloud providers (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Experience being on-call.

Location

This is a hybrid position, with the option to work remotely or from the Oakland or Toronto office, with an expectation of in-office presence 2 days per week.
