Overview

Harvey is a company transforming legal and professional services through innovative technologies in AI and data management. The Staff Software Engineer, Data Platform role involves building systems to enable teams at Harvey to utilize data independently and confidently.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the data platform's architecture and technical direction, treating data infrastructure as a software product.
• Build and operate the ingestion layer across streaming, batch, CDC, and third-party connectors.
• Land data into Snowflake while ensuring freshness, completeness, and cost efficiency.
• Manage the orchestration platform, including scheduling and dependency management.
• Develop transformation and compute frameworks for data processing.
• Operate stream processing infrastructure for real-time data use cases.
• Establish quality and observability for data trust and governance.
• Set technical standards through design reviews and mentorship.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building and managing production data infrastructure.
• Deep knowledge of cloud data warehouses, preferably Snowflake.
• Hands-on experience with CDC and streaming pipelines using technologies like Kafka or Debezium.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow or Dagster.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
• Familiar with data governance, PII management, and retention policies.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments and defining project scope.

Benefits

Compensation ranges from $231,000 to $340,000 USD.

This role can be performed remotely, based in the United States.
