Position Overview
The Program Manager at United Planet leads the development, coordination, and implementation of global programs, with a focus on group initiatives.
This role involves strategizing partner development, managing program budgets, coordinating Virtual Group Quests, and supporting participants to ensure impactful volunteer and community experiences.
The successful candidate will supervise a small team including the International Groups Coordinator, Partnerships Coordinator, and International Program Coordinator.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Program Leadership & Innovation
- Define and execute a strategic vision for international and virtual programs aligned with United Planet’s mission and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Lead program design, curriculum development, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance participant outcomes and global impact.
Team Leadership, Empowerment & Coaching
- Supervise and mentor the program team, fostering a culture of confidence, autonomy, and professional growth.
- Establish clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and decision-making guidelines to ensure operational consistency and accountability.
Strategic Partnership Development & Oversight
- Oversee the expansion and sustainability of global partner networks.
- Drive senior-level outreach to establish strategic alliances with international partners and host organizations.
- Implement partner evaluation frameworks to ensure quality, safety, and risk management.
Financial Management & Operational Quality
- Develop and oversee program budgets, pricing models, and financial forecasts.
- Refine logistics, participant safety protocols, background checks, and emergency response procedures.
- Lead the strategy and delivery of Virtual Group Quests, ensuring seamless cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications
Required
- Passion for United Planet’s mission and alignment with SDGs.
- Experience designing and evaluating international or virtual exchange programs.
- Proven ability to manage international partnerships and navigate cross-cultural communication.
- Strong strategic vision, change management, and SOP development skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of inspiring remote teams.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Non-Profit Management, Global Studies, or related fields.
- 2+ years of management experience in non-profit, international development, or global exchange programs.
- Experience with budget development, financial forecasting, and risk mitigation.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages such as Spanish is an advantage.
