    Overview

    The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is seeking applications for the position of Chief of the Data and Analytics Branch (DAB), a D-1 level fixed-term appointment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Leading the implementation of UNFPA’s Data Strategy and governance frameworks.
    • Overseeing the transformation of population data systems.
    • Driving innovation in data collection, AI-enabled analytics, and geospatial tools.
    • Leading evidence generation, including the State of the World Population Report.
    • Strengthening national statistical systems and global data ecosystems.
    • Mobilizing partnerships and resources to scale UNFPA’s data investments.

    Requirements

    • Advanced university degree in Statistics, Data Science, Demography, Economics, or related field.
    • A minimum of 15 years in public administration or international development, including 8 years at the international level.
    • Recognized authority in population data, statistics, or demographic analysis.
    • Expertise in sectoral data systems.
    • Track record in resource mobilization and high-level partnerships.
    • Excellent communication skills in English; other UN languages desirable.
    • Experience in low- and middle-income countries is highly desirable.
