Counsel, Employment @Brex

Overview

Brex is seeking a Counsel for Employment to join their legal team. This role involves providing strategic legal advice on employment matters affecting Brex’s global workforce in a hybrid work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide business-minded legal guidance on day-to-day employment issues, including performance management, terminations, recruitment, and compensation matters.
• Support the development and implementation of policies governing Brex employees and contingent workers.
• Assist in managing employment-related complaints, disputes, and regulatory inquiries.
• Manage outside legal counsel retained for employment matters.
• Identify employment-related risks and recommend solutions.
• Research and analyze applicable employment-related laws.
• Support the delivery of employment-related training to managers and employees.
• Assist with subpoenas and other legal requests.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in employment law at a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Experience working directly with People/HR functions as a legal advisor.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Practical mindset with the capability to navigate a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Juris Doctor (JD) and active bar membership in at least one U.S. state.
