Overview
The Counsel, Employment role at Brex involves providing legal guidance and support to the People team on matters affecting Brex’s global workforce. Brex is an intelligent finance platform enabling companies to spend smarter and accelerate operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal guidance on employment issues such as performance management, terminations, recruiting, hiring, and employee accommodations.
- Support the development of policies and practices related to employees and contingent workers.
- Manage employment-related complaints, disputes, and investigations.
- Oversee outside legal counsel to ensure efficiency.
- Identify employment-related risks and recommend solutions.
- Research and monitor employment-related laws applicable across locations.
- Support training delivery related to employment matters for managers and employees.
- Assist with legal requests related to employees and contingent workers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in employment law at a reputable law firm or corporate legal department.
- Experience working directly with People/HR functions.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Problem-solving mindset in a dynamic environment.
- Effective collaboration with colleagues and business partners.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Juris Doctor (JD) with active bar membership in at least one U.S. state.
