Global Controller @Customer.io

Overview

Customer.io is a global, remote-first company founded in 2012, comprising about 180 employees across 36 countries. The company seeks a Global Controller to manage its financial close, accounting processes, and control environment as it continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and quarterly close, GL, AP/AR, payroll, and account reconciliations, delivering accurate US GAAP financials.
• Oversee revenue accounting and act as the technical authority on subscription and usage-based revenue recognition (ASC 606).
• Author technical accounting position memos related to various accounting topics.
• Manage equity compensation accounting (ASC 718) in partnership with stock plan administration.
• Grow and manage a team of approximately 7 members, fostering trust and development.
• Build and maintain a control framework tailored for a subscription-based company.
• Drive automation across accounting systems and manage select treasury operations.
• Coordinate the external audit relationship and tax compliance endeavors.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with team leadership.
• Experience in Big 4 or a comparable top-tier public accounting firm.
• Deep understanding of US GAAP and expertise in ASC 606.
• Experience with automation or AI deployment in accounting with measurable results.
• Experience in scaling existing accounting functions.
• Proven track record with external audits and maintaining audit-ready books.
• Strong leadership and communication skills for effective partnerships with senior stakeholders.
• Nice to have: experience with internal controls, remote-first companies, and CPA license.

Starting salary ranges from $250k to $280k USD depending on geographic zone and experience. Benefits include:
