Engineering Manager, Bill Pay @Brex

Overview

The role involves leading the Bill Pay team at Brex, focusing on building and managing next-generation Accounts Payable (AP) software. Brex is an intelligent finance platform that empowers companies to manage their spending effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and lead a full-stack team (7-10 engineers) for Brex's Accounts Payable software.
• Define and sharpen the team's mandate within the broader Payments group.
• Set the technical and product direction, balancing features and technical foundation.
• Foster a people-centric culture focused on enablement and trust.
• Align cross-functionally with Design and Product teams on scope and delivery.
• Provide coaching, mentorship, and career development for engineers.
• Incorporate an AI-forward mindset into the team's operations.
• Translate customer feedback into engineering priorities and drive product discovery.

Requirements

• Proven track record of engineering leadership in customer-facing products.
• Strong product sense and ability to defend product and UX tradeoffs.
• Technical proficiency at a staff-engineer level with the ability to earn respect.
• Strong customer empathy and advocacy.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience in coaching and mentoring engineers.
• Minimum of 2+ years in an engineering management role.

Benefits

The expected salary range for this role is $240,000 - $285,000, with compensation factors including location, skills, and experience. Equity and other forms of compensation may also be provided.

Location

This is a hybrid role based in the United States, with a minimum of three coordinated days in the office per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and up to four weeks of fully remote work per year.
