Head of Technical Program Management - Banking @Mercury

Overview

The Head of Technical Program Management at Mercury will oversee the architectural coherence of the company's banking initiatives, which include building governance, infrastructure, and operational rigor. This role is instrumental in managing the technical program management team and ensuring that all banking workstreams are sequenced and aligned.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the program for Mercury's bank charter and governance work, managing sequencing, dependencies, risks, and decisions across teams.
• Define the TPM operating system for the banking organization, including rituals, tooling, reporting, and standards.
• Build automation and processes for program efficiency and quality.
• Develop exec-level reporting, synthesizing complex information into self-serve dashboards and narratives.
• Pressure-test timelines and estimates with engineering and product leaders.
• Build, manage, and develop a team of TPMs while overseeing select program areas directly.
• Drive decisions through ambiguity, clarifying ownership and managing tradeoffs.
• Ensure documentation and auditability in regulated, governance-heavy work.

Requirements

• 10+ years in program management, engineering, or product leadership, with 3+ years managing TPMs or PMs.
• Technical background in engineering, technical program management, or senior product roles.
• Experience in regulated industries, with strong preference for fintech or banking.
• Track record of building program management functions or operating systems.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence various stakeholders.
• Solutions-oriented, with an ability to navigate ambiguity effectively.
