Principal Software Engineer (Application Networking) - Platform Infrastructure @Elastic

Overview

The role involves a Principal Software Engineer position within the Platform Infrastructure team focusing on Application Networking at Elastic. This position is crucial for setting the technical direction and architecture for Elastic Cloud application networking.

Key Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for major application networking initiatives from proposal to general availability.
• Lead the development of Ingress, private connectivity, DNS, and security controls at scale for Elastic Cloud.
• Guide multi-quarter, cross-organizational projects through to delivery.
• Improve the operational quality of services, lead incident investigations, and participate in on-call rotation.
• Mentor engineers and serve as a subject matter expert across the engineering organization.
• Partner with product management and senior engineering stakeholders on technical trade-offs and roadmap direction.
• Identify improvements to security, stability, and cost efficiency.

Requirements

• Experience in building software for complex distributed systems at a Staff or Principal level.
• Deep expertise in application networking and cloud-native architecture.
• Experience in building large-scale distributed systems.
• Proven ability to own projects including technical design and collaboration.
• Experience with high-availability SaaS platforms and incident response.
• Track record of utilizing AI to enhance development processes.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and manage transitions between projects.
• Strong autonomous working ability and clear communication skills.
