Overview
The Climate Change Project Coordinator at ICLEI Canada plays a central role in advancing climate adaptation and resilience initiatives across Canada, supporting impactful, community-driven climate solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality technical support on climate change adaptation and resilience, including:
- Climate data analysis
- Impact identification
- Vulnerability and risk assessments
- Support the Advancing Implementation Training Initiative (AITI) by:
- Developing tools and resources
- Designing and facilitating workshops
- Enhancing participant learning experiences
- Coordinate major programs and projects, such as:
- Building Adaptive and Resilient Cities (BARC)
- Ontario Resource Centre for Climate Adaptation (ORCCA)
- Climate Insight initiatives
- Coastal Climate Resilience Collaborative
- Contribute to research, writing, and delivery of capacity-building materials and events.
- Plan and execute key events, including:
- Livable Cities Forum
- Adaptation Canada 2026
- Support fundraising efforts through proposal development and project design.
- Develop and deliver training workshops, webinars, and capacity-building sessions on climate adaptation and biodiversity.
- Assist with communications and outreach, including content creation and social media engagement.
- Conduct research on global climate initiatives to ensure program relevance and innovation.
- Provide internal support and guidance to project teams.
Requirements
- A university degree in:
- Environmental studies
- Urban planning
- Sustainable development
- Public administration or related fields
- At least 4 years of professional experience in:
- Climate change adaptation
- Sustainability or urban planning
- Engineering or related disciplines
- Demonstrated experience in climate data analysis, risk and vulnerability assessment, and adaptation planning.
- Strong understanding of local government systems and climate resilience strategies.
- Excellent writing, communication, research, and analytical skills.
- Fluency in English (French is a strong asset).
