Overview

Axios Local is hiring part-time temporary reporters and writers to support its growing network of local newsletters across various markets in the U.S. The role involves delivering essential news and lifestyle coverage for young professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Write high-impact local news items in Axios’ Smart Brevity style.
• Respond promptly to timely stories, events, and trends.
• Contribute to Axios Local newsletters and their websites and social media accounts with daily turnaround.
• Collaborate with an editor or full-time newsletter authors.
• Occasionally fill longer coverage gaps as needed.

Requirements

• Strong news judgment and concise writing skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and adapt quickly to feedback.
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for various reporting topics.
• Comfort writing in a conversational, reader-focused voice.
• Experience with newsletters or audience-focused writing.
• Familiarity with Smart Brevity style or willingness to learn.
• Strong communication skills and experience in remote work.
• Self-starter, able to bring executable ideas forward.
