Overview

Axios Local is hiring part-time temporary reporters and writers to support their growing network of local newsletters across the U.S. The role involves delivering smart, essential news and lifestyle coverage for young professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Write high-impact local news items in Axios’ Smart Brevity style.
• Jump on timely stories, events, and trends.
• Contribute to Axios Local newsletters, websites, and social media accounts.
• Collaborate with an editor and/or full-time newsletter author(s).
• Help fill longer coverage gaps as needed.

Requirements

• Strong news judgment and clean, concise writing.
• Ability to move quickly and meet deadlines.
• Omnivorous curiosity and enthusiasm for diverse subject areas.
• Comfort writing in a conversational, reader-first voice.
• Experience with newsletters or audience-focused writing.
• Familiarity with the Smart Brevity style or willingness to learn.
• Strong communication skills and experience working remotely.
• Self-starter with the ability to generate executable ideas daily.
