Overview

The role of Principal Engineer at Twilio involves leading the architecture and technical strategy for the Compliance Experiences team, focusing on critical domains such as Phone Numbers and Compliance (KYC). This is a remote position within the USA.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and long-term technical roadmap, transitioning legacy systems into a modern, distributed microservices architecture.
• Utilize AI coding assistants to automate processes and enhance the team's output.
• Drive technical excellence across multiple teams.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to create developer-first APIs.
• Mentor senior and staff engineers, fostering a culture of technical curiosity.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks and lead the resolution of production incidents.
• Communicate technical strategies through design documents and presentations.

Requirements

• 16+ years of experience in designing and developing cloud-native enterprise distributed systems.
• Expert proficiency in Java or Go, with in-depth knowledge of AWS ecosystems.
• Experience with microservices patterns and resilient system design.
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools in software delivery.
• Proven track record of building public-facing APIs with a focus on developer experience.
• Experience with data processing and storage solutions (SQL/NoSQL, Redis, Kafka, or Spark).
• Proficiency with Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD practices.
• Ability to influence technical strategy across teams.
