    Overview

    Brex is the intelligent finance platform that enables companies to spend smarter and move faster in more than 200 markets. The role of Staff Software Engineer focuses on operational leadership within Acquisition Engineering, supporting the customer journey from first touch to value.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Identify and lead consequential technical initiatives across Acquisition Engineering, from first touch through onboarding, activation, and ongoing adoption.
    • Set technical direction for cross-team systems, including architecture, platform boundaries, reliability, and data quality.
    • Partner with GTM Engineering, Salesforce, Onboarding, and Adoption to improve end-to-end customer and operator experiences.
    • Raise the technical bar through design reviews, hands-on implementation, operational excellence, and engineering standards.
    • Champion repeatable, secure, and high-velocity delivery, including practices for code review and deployment safety.
    • Mentor senior engineers and develop the next generation of technical leaders.
    • Collaborate to translate ambiguous business opportunities into scalable technical solutions.
    • Bring an AI-forward mindset to the development of customer experiences and internal tooling.

    Requirements

    • 8+ years of software engineering experience with technical leadership across multiple teams or large product areas.
    • Ability to identify and drive ambiguous, cross-cutting problems to resolution.
    • Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale backend or full-stack systems in production.
    • Strong product and business judgment, connecting technical investments to customer experience and growth.
    • Proven ability to influence stakeholders across engineering, product, and business domains.
    • Strong collaboration, written, and verbal communication skills.

    Benefits

    Compensation ranges from $240,000 - $300,000 CAD, with starting base pay dependent on factors such as location, skills, and experience. Equity and other forms of compensation may be included in the total package.

    Location

    This is a hybrid role based in Vancouver, Canada, requiring three days a week in the office.
