    Overview

    GitLab is seeking a Strategic Account Leader for the Public Sector Team, focused on helping state and local agencies and higher education institutions in the Mountain Plains region modernize their software development and security practices using GitLab’s AI-powered DevSecOps platform.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Build and execute strategic account plans that align GitLab’s platform with public sector modernization initiatives.
    • Navigate complex procurement and contracting processes while shaping multi-year technology roadmaps.
    • Act as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for strategic public sector prospects and customers.
    • Own the book of business, from pipeline development through close and expansion, using a consultative sales approach.
    • Collaborate with pre-sales and post-sales engineering, customer success, and support teams for successful rollout and value realization.
    • Partner with system integrators, resellers, and other channel partners to generate qualified leads.
    • Conduct ongoing prospecting and opportunity development activities within large strategic accounts.
    • Represent the voice of the customer by sharing feedback through GitLab’s public issue tracker.

    Requirements

    • Experience selling technology solutions to U.S. State and Local Government and Higher Education institutions.
    • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including CI/CD automation and secure development practices.
    • Understanding of State procurement vehicles, compliance requirements, and agency buying cycles.
    • Consultative sales approach that positions technology as a mission enabler.
    • Ability to manage major accounts with high ownership, working under minimal supervision.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills to build consensus across stakeholders.
    • Alignment with GitLab’s values and readiness to apply transferable skills to the public sector domain.
    • Willingness to travel to meet customers and attend events as needed.

    Location

    This role can be remote anywhere in the United States, specifically based in Colorado, Arizona, or Kansas.
