Key Responsibilities

• Author a daily Axios newsletter featuring insights and scoops relevant to the D.C. audience.
• Command the local market with the sourcing necessary to inform busy readers.
• Experiment with and leverage AI for reporting and newsletter production.
• Write conversationally, in Axios' Smart Brevity style.
• Help build Axios Local and shape how the product evolves.

Requirements

• Experience covering news in D.C.
• Excellent sources and ability to create new ones.
• Ability to break news and create conceptual scoops.
• Omnivorous curiosity about your hometown.
• Strong ideas and creativity.
• Comfort with flexing some voice and personality in writing.
• Proven experience in a fast-paced news environment and on deadline.
• Desire to be indispensable to local readers and Axios Local.
