Key Responsibilities

• Co-author a daily Axios newsletter with insights and scoops relevant to Houston residents.
• Cover various aspects of life in the city.
• Experiment with and leverage AI for reporting and newsletter production.
• Write conversationally in Axios' Smart Brevity style.
• Help build Axios Local and shape product evolution.

Requirements

• Experience covering Houston.
• Excellent sources and the desire to create new ones.
• Ability to break news and create conceptual scoops.
• Omnivorous curiosity about your hometown.
• Comfort flexing voice and personality in writing.
• Proven experience in a fast-paced news environment and on deadline.
• Desire to make yourself indispensable to local readers and to Axios Local.
