Overview
The Senior Assigned Support Engineer at GitLab serves as a trusted technical advisor to major customers, facilitating operational stability and maximizing the use of GitLab products. The role emphasizes deep expertise in Linux systems, CI/CD practices, and proactive support to resolve complex challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to Self-managed, GitLab Dedicated, and GitLab.com customers, ensuring system stability and performance.
- Troubleshoot critical support issues using Zendesk, logs, and Linux utilities.
- Build strong relationships with customer stakeholders to address technical blockers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve bugs and influence product roadmaps.
- Act as a technical expert on GitLab implementations.
- Create support content, including documentation and knowledge articles.
- Partner with support engineering team members to share knowledge and solve problems.
- Participate in the hiring process to contribute to team growth.
Requirements
- Experience managing complex support cases from inquiry to resolution.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills for multi-layered technical issues.
- Strong Linux administration knowledge (LFCE or RHCE equivalent).
- Practical experience with GitLab and CI/CD practices.
- Ability to write clear support documentation.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Ruby, Bash) and MVC frameworks.
- Effective communication skills for explaining technical topics.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and technologies such as Kubernetes.
