Overview
The role is for a Senior Backend Engineer on the Ecosystem Services Team at Mozilla, focusing on building and maintaining backend systems and cloud infrastructure for various Mozilla products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead backend development, building and maintaining server-side logic.
- Take ownership of services, ensuring they are deployed, operated, and healthy in production.
- Work with the CloudEng Team to maintain and improve production environments.
- Participate in on-call rotations, resolving production issues, and addressing bug reports.
- Rotate into a support role for releases, dependency updates, and work requests.
- Apply AI-assisted development tools for efficiency and quality.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure backend systems and APIs meet their needs.
- Participate in code reviews and security/privacy reviews.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in software development with a focus on backend technologies.
- Professional experience with Python, TypeScript/Node.js, or Rust for backend services development.
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL and SQL query optimization.
- DevOps experience on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with Docker-based pipelines.
- Experience with observability tools like Sentry and Grafana.
- Strong engineering judgment and ownership mindset.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers.
