Senior Backend Engineer - Platform Integrations (Monetization) @GitLab

Overview

The role involves serving as a Senior Backend Engineer on the Monetization Platform Integrations team at GitLab. The focus will be on designing, building, and maintaining integrations that connect CustomersDot and Monetization services to GitLab's enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain integrations between CustomersDot, Monetization services, and enterprise applications such as Salesforce, Workato, and Zuora.
• Define and evolve REST and GraphQL API contracts, ensuring versioning and backward compatibility.
• Build observable, fault-tolerant integration workflows and track error metrics to improve reliability.
• Ensure data integrity and consistency across integrated financial and subscription systems.
• Review and offer feedback on merge requests from other Monetization engineers.
• Collaborate with various teams to translate cross-system needs into reliable integrations.

Requirements

• Professional experience in Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL or similar databases in production.
• Experience with third-party or enterprise API integrations and designing REST and GraphQL contracts.
• Familiarity with event-driven patterns like webhooks and message-based streaming.
• Understanding of data integrity and governance concepts.
• Ability to communicate clearly about complex technical problems in a remote environment.
• Experience with NATS JetStream or subscription management/billing systems is a plus.
