Overview

The Senior Backend Engineer role at GitLab focuses on the DAP Repository Flows team, which is responsible for enhancing customer onboarding and automating repository processes using the Duo Agent Platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the design and delivery of features end to end across DAP onboarding and repository/background flows.
• Build autonomous and scheduled agents that operate on customer codebases.
• Improve the DAP onboarding experience for quicker project setup.
• Collaborate with engineers across the DAP organization on shared interfaces and patterns.
• Review designs and code, ensuring technical quality.
• Foster a culture of autonomy, ownership, and async-first collaboration.

Requirements

• Strong, hands-on experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails in production systems.
• Experience integrating LLMs into products.
• Experience building autonomous or semi-autonomous agentic systems.
• Track record of independently designing and shipping features in a collaborative environment.
• Strong written communication skills and ability to work effectively in a distributed, async-first context.
