Overview
This role involves the stewardship of a scalable, regulator-ready prudential regulatory compliance program to support bank charter readiness at Mercury, a fintech company. The position reports to the Director, Bank Regulatory Compliance and focuses on implementing strategies in alignment with regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and operate Mercury’s first prudential regulatory compliance program for banking, focusing on Regulations W and O.
- Advise senior management on the permissibility and advisability of proposed transactions.
- Engage and partner with stakeholders across the organization, including Legal, Finance, People/HR, and Credit.
- Shape the implementation of Mercury's most critical transactions in a compliant manner.
- Educate and grow compliance culture and awareness of regulatory obligations among bank staff.
- Maintain records and documentation on all prudential regulatory compliance activities.
Requirements
- 5-7+ years of experience in prudential compliance programs, with an understanding of Regulations W and O.
- Ability to represent program outputs to senior executives and stakeholders.
- Strong sense of ownership and a high quality bar in work completion.
- Collaborative mindset with strong stakeholder management skills.
- Interest in leveraging technology, including AI, in compliance practices.
- Prior experience in quantitative fields such as finance, credit, or strategic operations is a plus.
Benefits
The total rewards package includes base salary, equity (stock options/RSUs), and benefits. Competitive salary ranges based on location and experience:
- US employees in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or San Francisco Bay Area: $163,000 — $203,800 USD
- US employees outside these cities: $146,700 — $183,400 USD
- Canadian employees: $154,100 — $192,600 CAD
