Senior Counsel, Capital Markets @Affirm

Overview

Affirm is seeking a Senior Counsel, Capital Markets to join their Legal, Compliance, and Public Affairs team. This role involves leading efforts to build a diversified capitalization strategy while providing legal support in capital markets and financing transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise and support the capital markets team in expanding the company’s network of capital sources and strategies.
• Support the bank partnerships team in developing the company's network of originating and card issuing partner banks.
• Lead each financing transaction or bank partner initiative from a legal perspective, overseeing strategy discussions to deal execution.
• Draft, review, and negotiate US and international capital markets deal documents.
• Demonstrate knowledge of lending and securities laws related to capital markets transactions.
• Provide clear and timely legal advice.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams as a legal main point of contact for capital markets and bank partnerships.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant law-firm experience, with a preference for in-house experience in a high-growth fintech start-up.
• JD degree from a well-regarded law school and membership in a US state bar.
• Legal experience in structured and/or debt finance, including lending, warehouse financing, and securitizations.
• Strong integrity, work ethic, and business judgment.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and proactivity.
• Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
