The role of Senior Counsel, Risk at Brex involves managing the legal response to critical issues such as disputes, incidents, collections, and regulatory inquiries within a hybrid work environment. Key Responsibilities

• Manage pre-litigation matters including demands, disputes, and early case assessments.
• Lead the resolution of account and funds ownership disputes.
• Oversee collections strategies for delinquent commercial card and lending balances.
• Manage bankruptcy-related matters involving Brex customers.
• Serve as legal lead on incidents across the company.
• Drive remediation programs following incidents.
• Prepare responses to regulatory inquiries and examinations related to incidents.
• Supervise responses to subpoenas and other legal processes served on Brex.
• Build and improve playbooks and reporting for dispute management.
• Advise teams on mitigating dispute and incident risks.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) with active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 6+ years of legal experience, including 3 years in litigation, commercial disputes, creditors’ rights, or incident response.
• Experience managing pre-litigation disputes.
• Knowledge of regulatory landscape applicable to fintech.
• Excellent judgment in handling high-volume legal matters.
• Strong drafting skills for customer and regulator communications.
• Ability to work calmly and structured under pressure.
• Comfort operating across multiple teams and functions.
