    Overview

    GitLab is seeking a Senior Director, Associate General Counsel to lead the corporate and compliance legal function. This remote role requires a seasoned legal leader with experience in public companies, aligning legal priorities with business objectives and managing complex governance issues.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Define and execute the long-term strategy for GitLab's corporate and compliance legal function.
    • Serve as a primary legal executive partner to the CFO and People leadership on corporate governance and securities matters.
    • Build and lead a high-performing team of corporate attorneys and paralegals.
    • Advise on and maintain templates, policies, and processes for corporate law matters.
    • Manage GitLab's SEC reporting and disclosure obligations.
    • Lead legal support for equity plan administration and monitor legal risk changes.
    • Champion AI-enabled legal workflows within the corporate legal team.
    • Manage outside counsel relationships across corporate, securities, and M&A matters.
    • Influence decisions on cross-functional initiatives involving Legal, Finance, People, and Investor Relations.

    Requirements

    • 8+ years of combined law firm and in-house legal experience, ideally at a multinational, publicly traded technology company.
    • J.D. or equivalent legal degree with bar admission in good standing in at least one U.S. state.
    • In-house public company experience with knowledge of the '33 Act and '34 Act.
    • Proven success in partnering across business units to resolve legal and non-legal issues.
    • Experience advising executives on corporate governance, securities, equity compensation, and M&A.
    • Demonstrated fluency in applying AI tools to legal workflows.
    • Strong interpersonal and executive communication skills.
    • Ability to lead in a remote, asynchronous environment.
