Mercury is a fintech company seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer for the Design Systems team. The role involves building and maintaining components that are the foundation of their products, ensuring high standards of accessibility and performance, while adapting to new technologies including AI.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the components, patterns, and foundations of Mercury's product, ensuring top-notch accessibility and craft.
• Collaborate with design partners to translate new patterns from concept to production.
• Lead projects to implement new UI patterns that enhance product team efficiency.
• Develop a design system that integrates AI effectively for better outcomes.
• Shape the design system's prototyping experience to facilitate rapid iterations and concept exploration.
• Mentor team members on best practices and elevate overall craft and AI fluency.

Requirements

• 4+ years of frontend development experience, particularly with React, TypeScript, and modern web technologies.
• Experience with building or maintaining a design system or shared component library.
• Thorough understanding of modern frontend tooling, including build systems, CI/CD, and testing.
• High level of initiative and clarity in ambiguous situations; ability to take ownership.
• Strong systems thinking focused on outcomes.
• Good product taste and instinct for impactful change.
• Hands-on experience with AI in software development.
