Elastic, the Search AI Company, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch team. This position focuses on ensuring the platform functionalities of Elasticsearch are easy to use, performant, maintainable, and secure.

Key Responsibilities

• Contributing to impactful projects that evolve the core infrastructure of Elasticsearch.
• Enhancing developer productivity by identifying automation opportunities.
• Designing and implementing new horizontally-scalable features and APIs.
• Resolving performance or concurrency issues.
• Improving operation and observability of Elasticsearch cloud systems.
• Collaborating openly with the Elasticsearch team and users.
• Supporting engineering teams with complex problem-solving.
• Overseeing operational investigations until issues are resolved.

Requirements

• Experience in crafting APIs and reasoning trade-offs.
• Proficiency in algorithms and data structures.
• Strong skills in core Java, with experience in concurrency and parallelism.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems.
• Experience leading large-scale engineering projects.
• Able to own projects end-to-end.
• Proven track record of using AI to accelerate development and optimize code.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and transition between projects based on priorities.
• Strong self-management and communication skills in a distributed team setting.
