Senior Java Engineer - Core / Infra - Elasticsearch @Elastic

Overview

Elastic, the Search AI Company, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their Elasticsearch team. This role focuses on enhancing the shared platform functionalities of Elasticsearch, ensuring they are easy to use, performant, maintainable, and secure.

Key Responsibilities

• Contributing to large, impactful projects that evolve the core infrastructure of Elasticsearch.
• Identifying and developing opportunities for automation, enhancing developer productivity.
• Designing and implementing new horizontally-scalable features and APIs.
• Resolving performance or concurrency issues and providing solutions.
• Improving the observability of Elasticsearch cloud systems.
• Collaborating with the ES team, Elastic users, and open source projects.
• Supporting the team in solving complex problems.
• Managing operational investigations until performance or stability issues are resolved.

Requirements

• Experience crafting APIs with a sound understanding of tradeoffs.
• Proficient in algorithms and data structures.
• Strong core Java skills, including familiarity with data structures and concurrency constructs.
• Experience with low-level Java concepts like concurrency and parallelism.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems and practices.
• Proven ability to lead large-scale projects across engineering teams.
• Proficient in using AI to enhance development and optimize code.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and projects.
• Capability to work autonomously and communicate transparently in a distributed team.
