Senior Java Engineer - Core / Infra - Elasticsearch @Elastic

Overview

The role involves joining the Elasticsearch team at Elastic as a Senior Software Engineer, focusing on the core infrastructure and shared functionalities of Elasticsearch. Key Responsibilities

• Contributing to large, impactful projects that evolve the core infrastructure underpinning Elasticsearch.
• Enhancing developer productivity through automation opportunities and integrating applications into development workflows.
• Designing and implementing new horizontally-scalable features and APIs in Elasticsearch.
• Troubleshooting performance and concurrency issues, proposing effective solutions.
• Improving operation and observability of Elasticsearch cloud systems.
• Collaborating openly with team members, users, and other open-source projects.
• Supporting support engineers with complex issues and owning operational investigations until resolutions are achieved.

Requirements

• Experience crafting APIs and understanding tradeoffs.
• Strong proficiency in core Java and familiarity with the standard library, data structures, and concurrency constructs.
• Experience with low-level Java elements such as concurrency and parallelism.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems and practices (e.g., Buildkite, Argo CD).
• Proven experience leading large-scale projects across engineering teams.
• Ability to own and drive projects with effective communication and collaboration skills.
