    Overview

    This position offers a unique opportunity for experienced humanitarian leaders to contribute to the growth of a newly evolving operational directorate within Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). The MedOps Cell Manager will play a central role in shaping the operational identity of MSF Ubuntu, focusing on community-centered medical operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Leading operational strategy development for assigned countries and programmes
    • Supporting emergency preparedness and humanitarian response systems
    • Managing multidisciplinary operational teams
    • Ensuring quality, accountability, and ethical standards in humanitarian operations
    • Supporting country leadership teams and project coordinators
    • Overseeing security, access, and operational risk management
    • Driving advocacy, communications, and public positioning efforts
    • Supporting financial stewardship and responsible resource allocation
    • Promoting operational learning, knowledge management, and collaboration
    • Integrating environmental responsibility and climate awareness into operations

    Requirements

    • A degree in medical sciences, public health, humanitarian affairs, anthropology, political science, international relations, operational management, or related disciplines (Master’s degree preferred)
    • A minimum of seven years of professional experience, including significant senior operational management experience within MSF or another medical humanitarian organization
    • Previous senior humanitarian leadership experience such as Head of Mission, Country Director, Operations Manager, Emergency Coordinator, Medical Coordinator, or equivalent positions
    • Strong expertise in humanitarian operations, emergency response, security management, operational planning, and principled humanitarian action
    • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and handling complex security and ethical dilemmas
    • Fluency in English; additional languages like French, Swahili, or Arabic are desirable
