The role involves serving as the Senior Product & Regulatory Counsel for Mercury, focusing on the investment products portfolio, including Mercury Treasury and Mercury Invest. Key Responsibilities
- Own the investment products portfolio, acting as the primary legal advisor across the product lifecycle.
- Work collaboratively across departments including product, compliance, risk, engineering, and operations.
- Advise on regulatory matters impacting investment products and support compliance efforts with agencies like FINRA and the SEC.
- Contribute to other legal product areas beyond investment products as needed.
- Leverage AI tools in legal workflows to enhance efficiency.
- Communicate complex regulatory concepts in an accessible manner to stakeholders.
- Stay updated on regulations and market shifts to adapt the role as needed.
Requirements
- 6+ years of legal experience, with a minimum of 2 years on non-deposit investment products.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations including the Investment Advisers Act and FINRA rules.
- Some in-house experience is preferred; exposure to regulatory agencies is a plus.
- Exceptional communication skills tailored for different audiences.
- Proactive ownership approach.
- Strong knowledge of AI applications in legal roles.
- Additional experience in related financial services areas, such as payments or fintech, is beneficial.
