Senior Software Engineer @AuthZed

Overview

AuthZed is a fully remote company that develops SpiceDB, an open-source permissions database, and the surrounding authorization infrastructure. This role involves working on complex engineering challenges in distributed systems and authorization.

Key Responsibilities

• Build SpiceDB and the AuthZed OSS ecosystem: Research, design, implement, test, and release features.
• Drive best practices in software development, testing, and CI/CD.
• Take end-to-end ownership of your work and participate in on-call rotation.
• Troubleshoot performance issues within distributed systems.
• Collaborate with users and contributors and participate in technical discussions.
• Identify opportunities to optimize processes and elevate team performance.
• Work closely with other engineers, product, and support teams.
• Showcase work through technical documentation and represent AuthZed in the industry.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience with programming languages like Golang, Python, or Java.
• Strong background in systems engineering, especially distributed systems.
• Experience building and debugging complex production systems.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and managing distributed databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Docker, and Git.
• Excellent communication skills for articulating technical concepts.
• Ability to thrive in remote-first, cross-time-zone teams.
